The world’s favorite chicken – for over 70 years!

The story of KFC began in 1939 with one chef, Colonel Harland Sanders, who invented the chicken recipe that would become famous all over the world. The Colonel carved on his kitchen door in Kentucky a list of 11 herbs and spices that make up our favorite chicken coating to this day.

A copy of the recipe, which is signed by Colonel Sanders, is kept in a safe at the company’s headquarters in Kentucky along with 11 vials that contain each of the spice mix ingredients.
